Alexander Tenenbaum (born 1956) is an Israeli cardiologist , professor at Tel Aviv University. [1] [2]

Born on November 4, 1956 in Bishkek (then called Frunze) in the family of Moses Tenenbaum and Maria Segal. The father, born in Bessarabia, was sent there to the hospital after being wounded during World War II , and his mother was evacuated from Minsk .
He graduated with honors from the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute, in 1986 he defended his thesis under the guidance of Academician Mirrahimov.
Since 1989, lives and works in Israel. He is the author of about 200 scientific works, including 140 scientific articles, monographs, abstracts and scientific reviews published in the world's best journals. His work in the field of echocardiography, [3] [4] [5] [6] heart failure, [7] diabetes, [8] [9] [10] [11] coronary heart disease, [12] [13] computed tomography (CT), [14] [15] cardiac recovery after heart attack (cardiac rehabilitation) [16] and metabolic syndrome [17] largely influenced the nature of cardiology of the 21st century. He is the founder and chairman of the cardiovascular pharmacology department of the Israel Heart Association [18] .
Professor Tenenbaum is one of the founders of the field of medicine called Cardio-Diabetology, [19] the founder and editor-in-chief of the London-based scientific journal Cardiovascular Diabetology (BioMed Central, Springer Sciences Media Group, London). [20] [21]
Since 2004 she has been working as a scientific director at the largest Israeli Medical Center - Sheba, Tel Hashomer (Sheba Medical Center), founder and head of the Cardiology Institute of Cardiology. The founder of the Committee for Drug Treatment of the Israeli Society of Cardiology (IHS), [22] in 2008β2012 was the Governor of the International Society for Pharmacotherapy (ISCP). [23] Winner of many Israeli and international medical awards, including the Neufeld and Kellerman Prizes.
