Mežciems ( Latvian: Mežciems - “Forest Village”) is a microdistrict in the eastern part of Riga . It borders with the neighborhoods of Teika , Jugla , Purvciems , Dreilini .

Mežciems is one of the greenest areas of Riga, the development of which began in the 1970s. It is conditionally subdivided into "New" and "Old" Mezhciems. The area is small, surrounded on three sides by a forest. Nearby are lakes Gailayzers and Linyazers; small rivers Dreylupite and Gailupite flow.
