Story
A temporary agent is trying to detain a well-known terrorist-demolitionist, nicknamed Pshik Demoman . The agent manages to stop the bomb, but his face is badly damaged. The Demoman escapes, the agent returns to the future, in 1985, where he undergoes surgical face reconstruction. He works for a mysterious organization known as the Bureau of Time, which prevents many crimes. The Demoman is the only culprit they cannot catch.
After treatment, the agent is sent on his last mission before he resigns. He returns to New York in the 1970s, where he works as a bartender. A visitor appears in the bar who calls himself a Single Mother, as he writes articles in magazines on behalf of a single mother. The visitor tells his story to the bartender: he was born a girl in 1945 and grew up under the name Jane in a shelter. She was accepted into the space flight preparation team, but was disqualified when she discovered two sets of genitals - male and female, although the doctors did not inform her about this. Jane later becomes pregnant by an unknown man who abandons her. During childbirth, doctors discover two organ systems; due to complications, they have to remove her female organs. After this, the newborn is abducted from the hospital. Jane changes her name to John and begins to write articles on behalf of a single mother.
After the story, the bartender says that he knows some details of John’s life, and offers him the opportunity to meet the man who abandoned Jane so that he could take revenge on him. Together they go down to the basement and set off in 1963, where the bartender gives John a revolver. John meets with Jane and realizes that he was the person who left her. Meanwhile, the agent sets off in 1964, where he meets with his boss Robertson in the same hospital where Jane gives birth to a child. He abducts the child and goes with him in 1945, where he leaves him in the same shelter where Jane grew up. He then sets off in 1963 to pick up John. The agent explains to him that John and Jane live in a temporary paradox. If the agent had not abducted the child and made Jane and John meet, then they would not have existed.
The time agent and John are sent to 1985, where John will now work in his place. The agent returns to New York in 1975, where he deactivates his time machine, but discovers that the deactivation failed. Using the information received from Robertson, he understands how to find the demoman and goes to him. When meeting with him, it turns out that the terrorist is his own future version. Based on the principles of the Bureau of Time, his explosions prevent the death of a much larger number of people in the future (due to man-made disasters , terrorist attacks, etc.). Pschik offers his copy to join forces, because the agent never told the authorities about the malfunction in the time machine. Understanding who he will become in the future, the agent kills the future version of himself. It turns out that the agent is John himself after the surgical reconstruction of the face.
The film ends at the moment John chooses: whether to allow events to repeat again or rewrite his story, but the choice has not been shown.
