Biography
Born November 26, 1972 in Khabarovsk. Russian. He graduated from 8 classes of a local school and entered the Khabarovsk College of Telecommunications, which he graduated in 1991.
- From 1991 to 1993 he served in the communications forces in the Magadan Region as a radio interceptor operator [1] .
- In April 1994 (according to other sources, in 1995 [2] ) he joined the Ministry of Internal Affairs and served in the Special Rapid Response Unit of the Far Eastern Regional Department for Combating Organized Crime. Twice went on special business trips to the North Caucasus.
- July 9, 1996, as part of a group commanded by Lt. Col. Alexander Dorofeev, came to the aid of a group of police major Mikhail Vasyanin, who was ambushed by militants of field commander Makhayev. Noticing that Dorofeev fell to the ground, Lieutenant Orlov tried three times to get out of the shelter and crawl to the lieutenant colonel, but each time he returned back due to heavy machine gun fire. For the fourth time, he was covered by a grenade explosion and died. The commander he was trying to save was mortally wounded and died on the battlefield.
By decree of the President of the Russian Federation of March 12 (according to other sources, order No. 221 of August 12 [2] , according to another version, July 9, 1997 [3] ) of 1997, police lieutenant Orlov Sergey Vladimirovich was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumous) .
He was buried at the Central cemetery in Khabarovsk. He was awarded the medal "For Courage" [4] .
Recognition and memory
By order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia No. 132 dated March 5, 1998, he was forever enrolled in the lists of personnel of the RUBOP of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
By order of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Khabarovsk Territory No. 745 of 10/22/1996, the name of the Hero is listed in the Memory Book of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Khabarovsk Territory.
In 1997-1998, the Hero installed commemorative plaques (opposite the building of the Far East Branch of the Republic of Belarus, at Karl Marx St., 107 “B” and at the building of the Khabarovsk College of Communications and Informatics, at 58 Lenin St.) [2] .
In 2015, a new street in Khabarovsk was named in honor of the Hero of Russia, Lieutenant Orlov [5] [6] (connects Krasnorechenskaya and Dikopoltseva St.).
