Biography

Born on April 2, 1958 in the city of Dushanbe, the Tajik SSR in a military family [1] [2] . In 1976 he graduated from the local high school and entered the service in the Soviet Army.

He graduated from the Moscow Military All-Arms Command School named after the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR in 1980. He served in the motorized rifle troops, went from the platoon commander in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany to the chief of intelligence of the motorized rifle regiment in the Central Asian Military District.

In December 1993, he was transferred to the Interior Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Member of the Ossetian-Ingush conflict.

From December 1994, he participated in the first Chechen war, one of the first in the division to be awarded the order.

On January 3, 1995, a group of 9 scouts [1] under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Petrushko were paratrooped from a helicopter to the area of ​​the stanitsa Assinovskaya. The battle began, the militants began to retreat, leaving part of the armament (including several AGS grenade launchers ), but with the arrival of a large reinforcement detachment they launched a counterattack. Petrushko organized a perimeter defense and called in reinforcements, personally destroyed 2 machine guns of the enemy, two snipers, three grenade throwers and 7 militants, was wounded, but continued the battle, carried the wounded fighter to the shelter. When changing the firing position was killed by a sniper.

By decree of the President of the Russian Federation of August 25, 1995, for courage and heroism shown during the performance of a special task, Lieutenant Colonel Petrushko Sergey Igorevich was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation with the award of the Gold Star medal (No. 206).

By order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, he is forever enlisted in the lists of the military unit of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The secondary school in the village of Kazachi Camps of the Oktyabrsky District of the Rostov Region was named after Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Igorevich Petrushko, Hero of Russia [3] .
