Biography
Born into a family of textile workers. In 1904-1915 he studied at the Moscow Synodal School with A. D. Kastalsky , N. S. Golovanov , V. S. Kalinnikov [4] ; received the specialty of choirmaster and teacher of music and singing.
During the First World War he served in the active Russian army, and after the revolution - on the Southern Front of the Red Army (1918-1923 [1] ).
He moved to Vichuga , where he organized a choir at the factory club. Over time, the choir’s repertoire consisted of choirs and scenes from operas (Ruslan and Lyudmila, Mermaid, Boris Godunov, Eugene Onegin, Figaro’s Wedding), songs, including those written by I. M. Smyslov. The choir performed at musical Olympiads, participated in the Soviet holidays [4] .
In 1937 he organized a children's orchestra of folk instruments [4] .
Since September 26, 1941 - in the ranks of the Red Army, senior lieutenant, material support assistant for the head of training courses for junior lieutenants of the 11th Guards Army [1] ; joined the CPSU (b) [1] . He ended the war with the rank of major [2] . Participants in the music circles created by him spoke both at the forefront and in front of military units assigned to rest.
After the war, he worked in Vichug, directed a choir, which also performed on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater of the USSR Union [5] . On his initiative, a children's music school was opened in Vichug in 1960, where he taught and was a director for 20 years [5] .
Creativity
The author of more than 100 pieces of music.
His song “Homeland” (“The dawn was painted ...”) to the poems of N. P. Suslennikov [6] [7] is often called folk [8] and has become a kind of Vichuga anthem.
