Biography
Bedrifelek was born in 1851 in the family of Prince Natukhai Mehmed Karzeg and his wife Farukhan Khanim, who belonged to the Inal-Ipa princely family of Abkhazia [4] . On the maternal side, was the niece of the wife of Abdulmejid Shaeste Hanim Effendi . In 1864, her family emigrated to Istanbul , where Bedrifelek and her sister Dilber Khanum found themselves in the Sultan's court. In Istanbul, Father Bedrifelek married another woman, Melekyar Khanim, who came from a noble family; Mehmed gave birth to three daughters from her (Shazidil-khanym, Nevrestan-khanim and Melekistan-khanim), who were also given for service to the palace. Here the girls received an excellent education.
On November 15, 1868, in the Dolmabahçe Palace, Bedrifelek married the future Sultan Abdul-Hamid II [5] [1] . It was believed that Bedrifel was the beloved wife of Abdulhamid. The Bedrifel marriage gave her family the opportunity to arrange all their children; for example, her brother Kazym Pasha was sent to Baghdad and became the cavalry brigade leader of the sixth army .
Two years after the wedding, the eldest son Bedrifelek and the eldest of all the sons of Abdul-Hamid, Mehmet Selim Effendi (1870-1937) [6] [1], were born . Two years later their only daughter was born - Zekie Sultan (1872-1950) [7] . Six years after the birth of Zekia, the last child Bedrifelek was born - the son of Ahmed Nuri-effendi (1878-1944) [7] . After the overthrow of her husband, Bedrifelek moved to live with her eldest son in Serenjebey, where she remained until her death. She died in 1930 and was buried in the cemetery of Yahya Effendi [8] .
