Biography
Born on August 20, 1874 in Kiev (according to other sources - in the Chernigov province).
He graduated from the 2nd Moscow Cadet Corps (1893) and the Alexander Military School (1895), from where he was promoted to second lieutenant in the 41st artillery brigade .
Ranks: staff captain (1902), captain (1904), lieutenant colonel (1909), colonel (1912), major general (1917).
In 1904 he graduated from the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff in the 1st category. He served as senior adjutant to the headquarters of the 17th Infantry Division from May 17, 1905 to April 21, 1906. He participated in the Russian-Japanese war .
Later, Doroshkevich served as senior adjutant to the headquarters of the 43rd Infantry Division from April 21, 1906 to March 19, 1907 and served as assistant to the senior adjutant of the headquarters of the Vilna Military District from March 19, 1907 to 1910. On February 12, 1910, he was appointed senior adjutant of the Amur Military District (until September 1, 1911), after which he was assigned to the Elizavetgrad Cavalry School to teach military sciences.
Alexander Vasilievich participated in the First World War, served as chief of staff of the 35th Infantry Division on July 23, 1915. He was in the reserve of ranks at the headquarters of the Kiev Military District from November 3, 1915. On February 15, 1916 he was appointed commander of the 163rd Infantry Regiment of the Lankaran-Nasheburgsky Regiment . In April 1917 he was appointed chief of staff of the 11th Infantry Division; on April 10, 1917, he was awarded the St. George's Arms for the distinction as commander of the 165th regiment. On May 7, 1917, he was promoted to major general, and on June 27 he was appointed chief of staff of the 31st Army Corps (later its commander).
On March 14, 1918, after the signing of the Brest Peace, he was enlisted in the army of the Ukrainian state ; on September 30, 1918, he was promoted to the coronet general. He commanded the 5th corps. During the uprising against the hetman, Skoropadsky was captured by the Petliurites and thrown into the Chernigov prison.
