The son of a petty official. In 1900, he entered the newly opened Tomsk Technological Institute (TTI) and in 1906 became one of the first graduates of the mechanical department of Tomsk Technological Institute.

Head of the foundry, boiler room, wagon shops of Omsk railways workshops (1907-1911). Head of traction service, head of the road bureau of regulation of the Siberian Railway d. in Tomsk (1913-1927).

Founder of the scientific school of combined generation of electric and thermal energy. The degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences was awarded to him without defending a dissertation. Prepared 40 candidates and doctors of sciences. He lectured on the organization of production.
