Chinki is a regional term in Central Asia that means steep, hard-to-reach ledges (cliffs) up to 350 m high, which limit elevated flat areas of the earth's surface.
They are the result of marine abrasion during the retreat of the Caspian Sea . Distributed mainly in Kazakhstan and on the Ustyurt plateau .
A wild cat - manul - lives in the crevices of the chinks.
