Shotai [1] [2] [3] ( jap. 昌泰 sho: tai , generous peace) is the motto of the reign ( nango ) of the Japanese emperor Daigo [2] [1] , used from 898 to 901 [1] [4] .

- The 15th day of the 7th moon of the 4th year is Shotai (according to the Julian calendar - August 31, 901).
Origin
The name Nango was borrowed from the 30th juan of the classical ancient Chinese book Tang [4] : 「営 営 聖祖 興 、 赫赫 昌 基泰」 [4] .

- December 7, 899 (1st day of the 11th moon of the 2-year Setai) - the winter solstice came, and all the prominent officials of the empire appeared at the court of the emperor [6] ;
- February 6, 900 (3rd day of the 1st moon of the 3rd year of the Shotai) - Emperor Daigo visited his father [7] ;
- 900 year (the 10th moon of the 3-year Shotai) - daijo tenno Uda visited temples on the slopes of Mount Koya-san (today it is the territory of Wakayama Prefecture , south of Osaka ) [8] .
