Biography
Arkady Shargorodsky was born on April 6, 1930 . In 1952, he graduated from Moscow State Medical and Dental University , after which he was appointed to the post of emergency head dentist of the Smolensk regional health department. In 1960, Shargorodsky became a candidate, and in 1966 - a doctor of medical sciences [1] .
Shargorodsky was the initiator of the creation of a dental faculty at the Smolensk State Medical Institute, in 1968 - 2000 he served as head of the department of surgical dentistry. Actively involved in the study of inflammatory diseases, tumors and injuries of the maxillofacial region. He has authored more than 300 scientific papers, as well as 7 inventions, and has written a number of surgical dentistry training programs for students and interns. Under the leadership of Shargorodsky, 5 doctoral and 25 master's theses were defended. In 1991, Shargorodsky was awarded the title of Honored Scientist of the RSFSR [1] .
He died on September 4, 2006, and was buried in the Bratsk cemetery of Smolensk [1] .
He was awarded the Russian Order of Honor , a number of Soviet and Russian medals, and professional awards [1] .
A memorial plaque in memory of Shargorodsky was installed on the building of the Smolensk Regional Dental Clinic [1] .
