The sources are in the area of the village of Arsamaki ( Gus-Khrustalny district of the Vladimir region ) (127 meters above sea level ) , and the mouth behind the pier Zabelino, Kasimovsky district, Ryazan region (height 83 m) forming a small lake.
The course of the river is mainly through woodland , less often through meadows . Width - from 5 to 10 meters, less often, at bends, up to 20.
Depth 1-1.4 meters. The banks are gentle, overgrown with grass , shrubs and trees . In November it freezes until April.
In the upper reaches of the Gus River, two artificial reservoirs were built - a reservoir near the village of Aleksandrovka ( Gus-Khrustalny district ) and an urban reservoir in the town of Gus-Khrustalny . The filling of both reservoirs occurs due to spring runoff.
On the river there are many settlements with related toponyms ( Gus-Khrustalny , Gusevsky , Gus-Zhelezny , the village of Gus-Parakhino , Gusevsky Pogost ), as well as various DOL , camp sites , dispensaries ; near the village of Gus-Zhelezny children's sanatorium .
