  • September 1972 - December 1975 - commander of an artillery battery in the 111th Guards Parachute Regiment ,
  • December 1975 - August 1978 - Deputy Chief of Staff of the regiment in the 111th Guards Parachute Regiment ,
  • August 1978 - June 1981 - student of the Frunze Military Academy ,
  • June 1981 - April 1982 - chief of staff - deputy regiment commander of the 237th Guards Parachute Regiment of the 76th Guards Airborne Division , in the LenVO ,
