Oleg V. Bukharin (born September 16, 1937, Chelyabinsk) is a Soviet and Russian microbiologist . Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2011; corresponding member since 1997) and RAMS (2000; corresponding member since 1997). Honored Scientist of the RSFSR (1979).

Biography
Oleg V. Bukharin was born on September 16, 1937 in the city of Chelyabinsk. Father, Bukharin Valery Ivanovich (1907-1945). Mother, Astafieva Vera Ivanovna (1913-1985).
In 1960 he graduated from the Chelyabinsk Medical Institute . After graduation, he worked there as an assistant in the Department of Microbiology. Since 1968 - Head. Department of Microbiology. In 1977-1980 - rector of the Orenburg Medical Institute . He worked in the Department of Microorganism Persistence, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Institute of Cellular and Intracellular Symbiosis, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Orenburg ). From 1997 to 2012 - Director of the Institute of Cellular and Intracellular Symbiosis, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Orenburg) [1] .
The students of O. V. Bukharin are 30 doctors and 118 candidates of sciences.
Research Interests
Problems of adaptation of microorganisms (bacterial persistence).
