Kuznetsov, Yuri Fedorovich

Biography

Yuri Kuznetsov was born on June 27, 1936 in the village of Mordovskaya Pishlya , Ruzaevsky District , the modern Republic of Mordovia , into the family of a teacher. Kuznetsov studied at the Faculty of Philology of Mordovia State University , which he graduated in 1958. While still a student, he took an active part in the work of the university literary association headed by Arthur Moreau , Erzya people's poet. Since 1958, Kuznetsov worked in the newspaper “ Mokshen Pravda ” with a break for service in the army, then he graduated from the post-graduate school of the MNIIILIE (Mordovia Research Institute of Language, Literature, History, Economics) in the correspondence department. In 1971–1981 he worked as an editor of the fiction department of the Mordovian book publishing house.

In the late 50s Kuznetsov began to engage in literary activities. The beginning was that his critical articles, notes and essays were printed in local newspapers and magazines. In the early 70s, he received recognition as a writer.
