The Presidential Palace ( tour. Cumhurbaşkanlığı Sarayı , also the White Palace - tour. Ak Saray [1] ) is the official residence of the President of Turkey , located in the capital of Turkey - Ankara . The palace is estimated to be 50 times bigger than the White House in Washington [2] , the Kremlin in Moscow , Buckingham Palace in London [3] , and even the Palace of Versailles near Paris [4] three times [5] , and some critics compare the building with the House of Parliament from the time of Ceausescu in Bucharest [6] . The construction itself was condemned by environmentalists and the opposition as evidence of the authoritarian tendencies of Erdogan [7] , while his supporters argue that the palace is a symbol of what they call the pursuit of a “new Turkey” [8] .

History and Construction
Initially, it was assumed that the office of the Prime Minister of Turkey would be located in the palace and its construction began in 2011 . The author of the project was the famous Turkish architect Shefik Birkiye, who lives in Brussels [9] [10] . After incumbent Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the 2014 presidential election , on September 2, he announced that the building would be used as the official residence of the president . The building was built in the Beshtepe district in the Atatürk Forestry created by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1925 , and in 1937 transferred the farm to the state. In 1992, the economy was awarded the first degree of a protected zone, meaning a ban on any construction in this territory [11] . On March 4, 2014, the Ankara Administrative Court decided to suspend the construction of the palace. On March 13, this decision was supported by the Council of State on the recommendation of the Turkish Chamber of Architects [12] . Erdogan ignored this decision, saying that “let them demolish it if they can. They ordered to suspend, but they will not be able to stop the construction of this building, which I will open. I will be in it and use it ” [13] . Meanwhile, the only body with the authority to stop construction is the local municipality of Ankara, which did not express any objections, and therefore there were no legal obstacles to the construction [14] . Meanwhile, hundreds of trees were cut down [4] [15] to clear the place for the palace. At the same time, Minister of Finance Mehmet имimszek announced that a total of US $ 615 million was allocated from the construction budget, 432 million were used at that time, and the remaining funds of $ 135 million were included in the 2015 budget [4] [6 ] ] [16] [17] [18] . In addition, from the budget, Erdogan, according to special requirements, bought an Airbus A330-200 aircraft for 185 million [19] [20] , and it is also planned to repair the Huber Palace in Istanbul and the guest house on the Aegean coast [21] . In connection with all this, the leader of the opposition Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kylychdaroglu, said that “the so-called Sultan has built all this for himself in a country where three million people are left without work. You destroyed hundreds of trees to build this palace for yourself ” [22] .
