Publication History

Alicia was created by screenwriter Stan Lee and artist Jack Curby and first appeared in Fantastic Four # 8 (November, 1962).

Biography

Alicia first appears in The Fantastic Four # 8, along with her foster father, supervillain the Puppet Master . She initially helps him in his confrontation with the Fantastic Four, although she immediately feels the "gentle" and "sensitive" spirit of the Creature, for the first time feeling his tangibly monstrous face. Alicia renounces her adoptive father when she realizes that he is crazy and hungry for power, and accidentally makes him fall out of the window. Subsequently, a published comic book release explains that the Puppet Master is responsible for her blindness, which was caused by an explosion of radioactive clay during his battle with the enemy.

Alicia Masters was a recurring character in the early issues of The Fantastic Four as a creature's love interest, acting as an incentive not to return to normal human form, fearing that Alicia does not love him as a β€œsimple Ben Grimm” [3] . The character plays an important role in one of the most famous story arches of the Silver Age, β€œThe Coming of Galactus,” in Fantastic Four # 48-50 (March - May, 1966). In this story arc, the Silver Surfer first comes to Earth as the herald of Galactus and crashes into Alicia’s apartment after the battles with the Fantastic Four. Her passionate discussion with him about the value of life convinces him to abandon his master and protect the Earth from destruction [4] .

In 2007, the plot in the period after the apparent assassination of Captain America Alicia created a monument to him [5] .

After the events of the Secret Invasion storyline of 2008, Alicia is part of a support group for people replaced by the Skrulls , as she knows what it means to be replaced, and then returned after a long period of time [6] .
