Sergei Ivanovich Leslie ( 1758 - 1826 ) - Smolensk provincial leader of the nobility ; the head of the Smolensk national militia in 1812 [1] .
Father - Ivan Vasilyevich, came from the kind of Alexander Leslie , the organizer of the estate Gerchikovo ; was a confidant of Catherine II at the gold mines in Siberia. Mother - Anna Mikhaylovna, - from the old gentry kind of Stankevich . In the Smolensk province they built nearly twenty temples, including in the village of Uvarovo , where they were buried [1] .
S. I. Leslie retired from military service in the rank of captain of the guard of the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree. He was elected provincial leader of the nobility in 1804 and remained in this position for about 20 years (with a break in the years 1814-1818). Was awarded several state awards; by 1825, he was a collegiate adviser and was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree [1] .
Contemporaries found Leslie very similar to Suvorov , not only his face, but also his manners and oddities. Until his death, he walked with a pigtail, decorated with a bow, and a light green uniform with a high red collar. A triangular hat, stockings and shoes with huge silver buckles, the same buckles on large black bows under the knees, complemented his vintage costume [2] .
