Koja Damat Dawood Pasha (died October 20, 1498 ) is a prominent Turkish military and statesman, the great vizier of the Ottoman Empire (1482-1497).

Biography
By origin - Albanian (in Turkish - “Koja”). He also had the nickname "Damat", that is, the sultan's son-in-law , married to a princess from the Ottoman dynasty.
Born in Christian Albania , in childhood, through the Devshirme system, he entered the Ottoman army, where he was converted to Islam .
In 1473, Davud Pasha, being the Bayler of Anatolia, was one of the Ottoman military leaders in the decisive victory over the Ak-Koyunlu army at the Battle of Otlukbeli . 2c In 1478, Sultan Mehmed Fatih appointed Kodja Dawood Pasha commander in chief of the Turkish army on a campaign against the rebel city of Shkodra in Albania. The sultan himself, with another army, besieged the fortress of Kruyu , the citadel of the Kastrioti clan. Dawood Pasha managed to take Shkoder , who was the last stronghold of the Lezha League , thus ending the Ottoman-Albanian war.
In 1479, he was appointed the Sanjak Bay of Bosnia , from where he sent large Turkish horse troops ( akyndzha ) to rob and ruin the border Hungarian possessions.
In 1482, the new Sultan Bayazid II appointed Koja Dawud Pasha the new great Vizier of the Ottoman Empire. In 1487, he commanded the Turkish army in the Ottoman-Mamluk war (1485–1491) . Davud Pasha planned to step on the Mamluks' own possessions, but Sultan Bayazid canceled his plan and ordered the Turgulda and Varsak to attack the rebel tribes. When Dawood Pasha arrived, the leaders of the Turguldu and Varsak tribes appeared before him and swore allegiance to the Ottoman Empire.
On October 20, 1498, Koja Dawood Pasha died in Didimotiho .
Community Activities
Koja Dawood Pasha contributed to the modernization of Istanbul. On the territory of the Byzantine forum Arcadia, he built a mosque, 108 shops, a madrasah, a school, a hospice, a canteen for the poor and a public fountain (1485). This whole quarter was subsequently named after him. In Yenikapi, he built a palace, a marina, eleven shops and public baths. He is also involved in the construction of Bedesten (a covered market) in Bitola and shops in Skopje and Bursa. The Dawud Pasha baths in Skopje are the largest baths in the Balkans, they are currently used as an art gallery.
