Magerka ( Polish magierka from Hungarian magyar ) - an old Hungarian and Polish headdress , felted white hat ( fir-tree [1] , silk , tulle ), tulle without borders [2] .
Magerka was made of velvet or cloth and a feather was pinned to it [3] . In the XVII century, the teller was the headdress of noble people, but later ordinary people began to wear it, replacing velvet or cloth with felt .
This headdress was also worn on the territory of Belarus in the Russian Empire , in Belarus peasants called this headdress “ Mavgerka ” [3] or Margelka [4] .
In the XVI and XVII centuries, during the time of Stefan Batory, it was widely used in Poland as the main winter headdress for military personnel. Magerka was often used by Polish winged hussars .
Materka was also called a bath scoop and a gang in ancient times [2] .
