History
The ancient constellation. Included in the catalog of the starry sky Claudius Ptolemy " Almagest ". Raven is an attributive bird of Apollo , and the constellation was perceived by the ancient Greeks in this capacity. The small story connecting it with the neighboring constellations Hydra and the Chalice is certainly not a myth , but a late poetic fiction. It tells us that Apollo sent a raven with a cup to a spring to fetch water for a sacrifice . The raven, however, lingered near the fig , waiting for the fruit to ripen, and then tried to justify itself, referring to the water snake (hydra) that did not let it into the river.
