In the village a stone church in the name of the Nativity of Christ is not known when it was built, according to legend, at the expense of parishioners and philanthropists of the town of Yelets. There is a legend that in Sazyken there used to be a wooden temple on the spot where the old cemetery is now located; there is a small chapel with a cross. In this temple, in addition to the main cold altar, there are two warm limits - the right one in the name of the Mother of God of Smolensk and the left one - in the name of Saints. and the Wonderworker Nicholas, built in 1870 by the diligence of the Yelets merchant Nikolai Stratonovich Khodov. At the temple there is a church building, where since 1882 the zemstvo school was located. The Church owns the capital in three tickets of the Yelets city public bank in the amount of 700 rubles, half of which comes in her favor, and one ticket of the Elets branch of the State Bank in 100 rubles, the percent of which goes completely to church needs ” [3] .
