History
It was founded in 1951 by the merger of three nationalized companies: Gdynia-Ameryka Linie Żeglugowe SA, Żegluga Polska and Polsko-Brytyjskie Towarzystwo.
By the end of the 1970s, the fleet reached 176 ships.
