Dynasty (from the Greek. Δῠναστεία - power, dominance) - in monarchical states, a sequence of monarchs from one clan, family, succeeding each other on the throne by right of succession, for example, the Romanovs in Russia , the Habsburgs in Austria-Hungary , Valois and Bourbons in France , Qin in China . Dynasties are named after the founder or founder ( Rurikovich , Genghisides , Jagiellons ) or an outstanding representative ( Carolingi ).
In a figurative sense - a series of people of one genus who continue the work of their parents, follow in their footsteps.
