Biography

Born into a peasant family. In 1936-1939 he studied at the Vitebsk Art College.

In 1939 he was drafted into the Red Army. During the Great Patriotic War he participated in battles on the Central and South-Western fronts .

After demobilization in 1946 he worked as an artist and literary employee of the newspaper Zvezda. From 1949 - editor of the department of essays, in 1967-1980. - Department of literature and art of the magazine "Belarus".

He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree and medals.

Creativity

He published his first stories in 1944 in Russian in the military press, and since 1947 he wrote in Belarusian.
