Xanthostemon sebertii (lat.) - extinct by 1998 [2] species of dicotyledonous plants of the genus Xanthostemon of the Myrtaceae family ( Myrtaceae ). First described by the French botanist Andre Guillaume in 1934 [3] [4] .

Distribution, conservation status
Endemic to New Caledonia , which was distributed in the southeast of the island [5] . It was found mainly in forest areas [6] .
Plant instances were recorded only three times, in the area of the Gulf of Prony . In the previous century, the species was not found, despite the research expeditions often carried out in that part of the archipelago. Since 1998, Xanthostemon sebertii is considered an extinct species [2] .
Description
Phanerophyte [5] . Shrub 4-7 m high. Young branches were covered with hairs. Petiole leaves, leathery, elliptical with a sharp tip, pubescent in the lower part; the size is 7-15 × 2.5-5 cm. The flowers are red, with 25-30 stamens, were collected in simple inflorescences with 1-2 flowers in each. The fruit is a box [6] .
