Roman Vadimovich Spiridonov (born April 19, 1973, Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR ) is a senior lieutenant of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation , a participant in the First Chechen War , Hero of the Russian Federation ( 1996 ).

Biography
Born April 19, 1973 in Alma-Ata, Kazakh SSR. Russian. He graduated from 8 classes of high school and entered the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School , where he studied in 2 platoons of 3 companies [1] . After graduating from it in 1990, he entered the Alma-Ata Higher Combined Arms Command School (he studied at the 1st and 4th platoons of the 3rd company of cadets [1] ), which was disbanded in 1993, and therefore he was transferred to Leningradskoye military command combined-arms school (according to other sources, it was transferred simply to continue studies [1] ). After graduating from college in 1994, he was sent to serve in the airborne troops .
From November 16, 1995 to April 1996, he was a participant in the first Chechen war, participated in 7 major operations against militants, including on November 20, 1995, a reconnaissance group under his command discovered and destroyed a mortar battery of militants in the Gudermes region .
November 30, 1995 (according to other sources - March 30, 1996 [1] ) the company of the Airborne Forces, in which Roman Spiridonov served, was ambushed by militants in the area of the village of Nizhne Vedeno. During the fighting, the company commander and all platoon commanders, except Spiridonov, were wounded, in connection with which he took command over himself, organizing a circular defense . After 6 hours of defense, due to the fact that the reinforcements were blocked by the militants and there was no need for help, Spiridonov prepared an attack, breaking through the encirclement. The company went to the main troops, all the wounded were carried out.
By decree of the President of the Russian Federation of October 19, 1996, for the courage and heroism shown during the performance of a special task, Spiridonov Roman Vadimovich was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation with the award of the Golden Star medal.
Continues to serve in the Armed Forces [2] .
