Morang ( Nepali. मोरङ जिल्ला ) is one of the 75 districts of Nepal . It is part of the Kosi zone, which, in turn, is part of the eastern region of the country. The administrative center is the city of Biratnagar .

Morang is located in the physical and geographical region of Terai , which is a plains in southern Nepal. It borders on the Sunsari region (in the west), the Dhankut region (in the north), the Jhap and Ilam districts of the Mechi zone (in the east) and the Indian state of Bihar (in the south). Most of the territory is occupied by agricultural land (the main agricultural crops are rice and jute). In the northern part of the region, where the plain passes into a hilly area, there are remnants of forests.
The population according to the 2011 census is 965,370 people, of which 466,712 are men and 498,658 are women [1] . According to the 2001 census, the population was 843,220 people [2] .
