Taplejung ( Nepali. ताप्लेजुङ जिल्ला ) is one of the 75 districts of Nepal . It is part of the Swords zone, which, in turn, is part of the Eastern region of the country.

It borders with the Panchthar region (in the south), the Terhathum and Sankhuvasabha regions of the Kosi zone (in the west), the Tibet Autonomous Region of China (in the north) and the Indian state of Sikkim (in the east). The Tamur River flows through the area. Mount Kanchenjunga , the third highest eight-thousander in the world, is located on the territory of the Taplejung district. This is one of the most picturesque areas of eastern Nepal.
According to the 2011 census, the population is 127,461 people, of which 60,552 are men and 66,909 are women [1] . According to the 2001 census, the population numbered 134 698 people [2] .
