Biography

He received a bachelor 's degree in electrical engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic University and a master 's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan .

In 1994, he began his career at Qualcomm as an engineer , and has been with the company for over 20 years.

In 2008, he became the head of the processor division of Qualcomm.

During his career in the company, he oversaw the company's business in launching the production of chips for technologies such as: CDMA , W-CDMA , LTE , 4G . He helped make Qualcomm the world's largest provider of mobile chipsets and the world leader in mobile technology for smartphones .

In early 2011, as executive vice president , he led the largest acquisition when Qualcomm for $ 3.1 billion acquired Atheros Communications . The deal helped expand Qualcomm's business far beyond smartphones, and accelerated the adoption of technologies and platforms in new market segments [1] .

In 2011, he took the position of Chief Operating Officer and in this position oversaw the company's investments in technologies that made Qualcomm a leader in the modern mass market of mobile chips for smartphones in the field of computing, graphics and multimedia technologies. Then the company expanded its leadership in the segment of 3G and 4G modems.

In March 2014, he became CEO of Qualcomm [2] .

Research

Mollenkopf is an author published by IEEE and holds seven patents in areas such as power rating and measurement of multi-standard sensors and wireless communications technology. He is chairman of the Global Semiconductor Alliance and a member of the board of directors of the Semiconductor Industry Association.
