Padin, Vasily Andreevich

Together with P.A. Rappoport he studied the ancient Trubchevsk within the limits of the modern city on Cathedral Hill.

Biography

Born March 8, 1909 in the district town of Trubchevsk. He studied in Moscow with Yu. A. Zavadsky (Vakhtangov Theater) and B. M. Sushkevich (Moscow Art Theater). Together with his wife, enthusiastic about the trends of the new era and the desire to bring culture to the masses, in 1926 they moved to Trubchevsk and organized the Workers' Youth Theater (TRAM). V. A. Padin staged more than 200 performances (90 premieres) based on plays by classics and Soviet authors [1] , and led the theater until 1975 [2] .

Since 1936, he simultaneously worked at the Trubchev Museum [1] .

During the war years remained in the occupied territory. He saved many young people from being sent to Germany by recording them as actors in a theater that continued to work. He collaborated with the partisans : he hid a radio receiver with a battery, received Sovinformburo reports for the partisans. When the Gestapo men found the radio, V. A. Padin and his wife managed to escape, but his mother and sister's wife were shot. After the liberation of the Bryansk region, he headed the Trubchevsk radio center; in November 1943 he went to the front as a volunteer, was contused [2] .

Since October 20, 1945 - Director of the Trubchevsky Museum [1] [2] .

In 1987 he retired. He remained an honorary director of the museum, published non-fiction articles [1] .

Family

Wife - Nina Vasilievna, played in the Theater of Working Youth of Trubchevsk; at the same time she worked at the meteorological station at the Trubchev Museum [2] .

Scientific Activities

He was involved in the archeology of V. P. Levenko . Participated in expeditions under the leadership of M. V. Voevodsky , B. A. Rybakov , L. V. Artishevskaya, P. N. Tretyakov , from whom he studied archeology. He led the work in the Desninskaya Valley and together with the staff of the IGAN A. A. Velichko and R. V. Fedorova. Implemented by excavating 23 Open Lists, issued by the Institute of Archeology of the USSR Academy of Sciences [1] .

Main achievements [1] [2] :

  • salvation of a unique Antsky treasure (153 jewels made of bronze and silver);
  • the creation for the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Trubchevsk on the site of the excavated mounds of the Kvetun necropolis about 200 layouts of mounds, among which 10 are original; an obelisk with an explanatory text was installed in the center - this is one of the first experience in the Bryansk region to restore and museumify archaeological monuments;
  • the discovery of archaeological monuments in Trubchevsky, Surazhsky, Navlinsky and Suzemsky districts: 2 Neolithic sites, 9 barrows of the Bronze Age, 3 settlements of the early Iron Age, 6 settlements and a burial ground of the 1st mil. e., 245 ancient Russian mounds and posad of the archaeological complex Kvetun;
  • drawing up security passports for archeological monuments of the Trubchevsky district for the USSR Ministry of Culture .

He was a member of the Council, coordinating the work of the museums of the socialist countries. As an educator and popularizer of science, he lectured in schools and technical schools of Trubchevsk, in villages and villages of the district, conducted tours [1] .

Author of about 40 scientific papers, 200 popular science articles in regional and district newspapers and almanacs [1] .

A number of ideas and hypotheses put forward by him remain controversial, in particular, the autochthonous nature of the Slavs and Slavs of the Podesye, the transfer of the city from Kvetuni to the modern territory of Trubchevsk [3] .
