History
The temple on Ryu Lekubr was built in 1933 and consecrated in honor of St. Seraphim of Sarov . The project of the iconostasis of the church was created by the founder of the Society for the Renaissance of Artistic Russia, Academician N.V. Globa . In the bottom row were installed icons of letters by P. A. Fedorov .
Forty years later, the temple building fell into disrepair, in connection with which, in 1973-1974, a new wooden church was built on the site of the old church according to the project of architect A. N. Fedorov. Inside the temple there are two massive maples, whose trunks go out through the holes in the roof (one plant is living, the other is dried). On one of the trees is the text of the will of Seraphim of Sarov.
One of the main shrines of the temple is the icon of St. Seraphim with a particle of his relics [1] . Also in the church are stored part of the stone taken from Tsarskoye Selo , on which the saint performed his prayer feat, part of the saint’s mantle and a small amount of flour that the sisters of the Diveyevo monastery ground in a hand mill and distributed to a handful of pilgrims as a blessing.
In 1978, the final version of the iconostasis was created according to the project of N. I. Iscelennov , and the funds for this work were donated by Baroness Olga Anatolyevna Shtromberg, who donated 10 thousand francs. On the icons on the reverse (altar) side are commemorative inscriptions of the names of the family members O. Shtromberg who died or died in the revolution and wars, as well as the names of the deceased royal family. The central icons of the deesis rite - the Savior, the Virgin, John the Baptist, the Archangels and the Apostles - were painted by G.V. Morozov. The six side icons are the work of the younger generation of icon painters of the Paris icon: “Basil the Great” - N. G. Spasskaya, “Great Martyr George” - N. P. Spassky, “Andrew the First-Called” - V. A. Tsevchinsky, “Gregory the Theologian” - Z E. Zaleskaya, “Dmitry Solunsky” - I. A. Kyulev, “The Holy Princess Olga” - S. Ya. Ryshkova-Chekunova. The exterior of the southern wall of the temple is decorated with the image of Seraphim of Sarov and four small bells.
The parish regularly organizes catechetical “Orthodox meetings” [2] . Divine services in the church are performed in Church Slavonic and French. Since 2010, Christophe Levallois has been serving in the church.
