Book Erekle Deisadze Scandal
In May 2010, the presentation of the book “The Last Supper” by Erekle Deisadze, which caused a scandal, took place within the walls of Ilya Ilya State University, because the author changed one letter in the New Testament expression “The Last Supper”, which in Georgian sounds like “Saidumlo s robe” to "Saidumlo s and robe," which means "Secret x ... I." [4] The content of the book was also criticized, where Deisadze described her feeling of attraction to her mother when she was baptized on her knees in front of the icon, and also expressed thoughts about what would be nice if the Virgin would have an abortion . [4] [5] The Georgian Orthodox Church opposed the publication of the book. [6] [7] The leader of the People’s Orthodox Movement of Georgia and the president of the Georgian Times media holding , Malkhaz Gulashvili, expressed the view that the presentation was held with the direct participation of the Liberty Institute, which is funded by the Soros Foundation and has an office in the university building. [5] [8] In turn, journalist M. L. Shevchenko noted that
And when the blasphemous blasphemous book was published in the walls of Ilya Chavchavadze Tbilisi State University by the Soros Institute of Freedom, which was mildly translated as “The Secret Meeting”, mocking the Last Supper and preaching the idea that if the Mother of God had an abortion, there would be problems in the world it would be less - any person worshiping Christ and His Mother cannot but respond to such a thing. [9]
Gulbaat Rtskhiladze, doctor of political sciences and head of the Eurasian Institute, noted that
The appearance of the so-called book, which is actually called even more insulting than you formulated, from the part of its mediocre young author is an attempt - alas, quite successful - to attract public attention and make money. But the political provocation is that such a dirty book was published by the same publishing house that publishes school textbooks. In addition, her presentation was held at the State University, named after the great Georgian Christian enlightener Ilya Chavchavadze - the holy Georgian Orthodox Church. Naturally, the Georgian Patriarchate responded to what happened. It is bad that our society is no longer able to protect the unwritten laws of morality and decency, and formal prohibitions on immorality are required. [ten]
