Cotreys or Cotres [2] ( fr. Cauterets , aux . Cautarés ) is a ski resort and a commune in the Hautes-Pyrenees department in southwestern France .

Content
Geography
Cotrete is located 32 km (20 miles) south-west of Lourdes in the beautiful valley of Gav de Cotre, bordered by the Pyrenees National Park. It is the starting point of excursions to the peaks of Péguère (2316 m), Monnet (2723 m), Cabaliros (2333 m), Shabarra (2910 m), Vinemale (3298 m), and others. Gaube Peak is located approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes walk from Kotra.

The population of the commune in 2010 was 1139 people.

Economy
In 2010, among 776 people of working age (15-64 years old), 626 were economically active , 150 were inactive (activity rate was 80.7%, in 1999 it was 80.0%). Of the 626 active residents, 603 people worked (306 men and 297 women), there were 23 unemployed (10 men and 13 women). Among 150 inactive, 52 were students or students, 54 were retired, 44 were inactive for other reasons [3] .
Hot Springs
Kotre is well known for its thermal springs. They are mainly characterized by the presence of sulfur and soda silicate, and can be used in the treatment of respiratory diseases, rheumatism, skin diseases and many other diseases. The main thermal baths, Thermes César, were opened in 1843 and still work.
Ski resort
About 36 km of various ski runs and 25 descents at altitudes between 1700 m and 2500 m are laid around Kotra.
