Biography
In 1956 he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Chisinau University . He worked as a physics teacher at a school in Lozova , a teacher at the Agricultural Institute of Chisinau (now the State Agrarian University of Moldova ). In 1959-1962 he studied at the graduate school of the Leningrad Physical-Technical Institute named after A.F. Ioffe .
In 1962, at the A. I. Herzen Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute, he defended his thesis on the subject “Study of the conductivity and photoconductivity of glassy semiconductors in the Tl-As-Se-Te system” [2] .
In 1962-1964, he was a researcher at the Institute of Mathematics and Physics of the Academy of Sciences, scientific secretary (1964-1971), head of the laboratory (1971-1993), director of the center of optoelectronics (1994) of the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. Member of the CPSU since 1965.
In 1984-1989, the chief scientific secretary, the third president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (1989-2004).
In 2004 he was elected honorary president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
Scientific activity
Conducted research in the field of optical electronics and non-crystalline semiconductor physics, tension in condensed systems.
He was engaged in the development of new sensors for acoustic - optical interferometers .
The initiator of the creation of the Association for the provision of Internet services for science, education and the health system of Moldova (RENAM).
Author of more than 500 scientific papers, including monographs, author of 45 patents. He prepared 17 candidates and 8 doctors of sciences in the field of physical, mathematical and technical sciences.
