Popash or Popash is a chronicle city within the Pereyaslavl principality , located on the right bank of the Sula River. It was first mentioned in the Ipatiev Chronicle under 1147 , when Prince Gleb Yuryevich took it by force. It was part of the Posulsky defensive line - a chain of fortified cities that protected Russia from steppe invasions. He fell into decay after the Mongol-Tatar invasion .
The settlement is supposedly located near the town of Nedrigailov, Sumy region . The cultural layer contains deposits of the Scythian era and Old Russian (late XI – early XIII centuries) time.
