The first stage of the World Cup in speed skating in the 2014/2015 season was held from November 14 to 16, 2014 at the Meiji Hokkaido-Tokachi Oval skating rink, Obihiro , Japan . The races were held at distances of 500, 1000, 1500 meters, team race, mass start, as well as 3000 meters for women and 5000 meters for men. Swiss Martin Hänggi became the oldest participant in the World Cups - at 46, he took part in 5000 m races in Division B. On the first day, records of the ice rink at long distances were broken and 6 personal records were set [1] . On the second day, the records of the 1000m men's ice rink were broken in the women's team race [2] . On the third day, the rink’s records were broken at distances of 1,500 and 500 meters and 5 personal records were set [3] .
