Geography

It is located 3.5 km north-west of the central part of the Orongoy ulus on the left bank of the Orongoy river, half a kilometer north of the main channel. 1.5 km west of the station runs the A340 Kyakhtinsky Federal Highway.

History

The station was founded in the late 1930s during the construction of the southern line of the East Siberian railway Ulan-Ude - Naushki . In 1939, the first train passed through Orongoy station. It was commissioned in 1940.

In October 1964, regular passenger train traffic began along the route Ulan-Ude - Gusinoe Lake (later Ulan-Ude - Naushki ).

Suburban train traffic on the route Ulan-Ude - Zagustay (reformed Ulan-Ude - Naushki) along the southern branch of the UZhD was canceled in 2014.
