Biography

Vladimir Usov was born on February 26, 1935 in the village of Petrochaty of the Demidov District (now the Smolensk Region ). He graduated from seven classes of a school and a vocational school in Ivanovo , after which he worked as a turner at the Intorfmash plant. In 1954 - 1957 he served in the Soviet Army . Demobilized, he moved to Smolensk , worked as a mechanic, turner at the Smolensk Aviation Plant [1] .

In 1959, Usov graduated from the school of working youth, in 1963 - the historical and philological faculty of Smolensk State Pedagogical Institute . Published in the Smolensk newspapers "Change" and " Work Path ". In 1965 - 1972 he worked as deputy editor, editor of the Khislavichi district newspaper. In 1972, Usov graduated from the press, television and radio broadcasting department of the Higher Party School of the Central Committee of the CPSU , after which he worked as the head of the propaganda and agitation department, deputy editor, editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Rabochiy Put”, the press organ of the Smolensk regional committee and city committee of the CPSU in those years. and Smolensk regional council. In 1977, he was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR, and in 1983, he was awarded the Prize of the Union of Journalists of the USSR [1] .

In parallel with journalistic activities, Usov was actively engaged in local history, co-authored several books and a number of articles [1] .

After the collapse of the USSR, Usov worked as a correspondent in the large-circulation newspaper Avtostroitel. In 1995, he retired. He died on July 4, 2010, was buried in the Odintsovo cemetery of Smolensk [1] .

He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .
