The source of the river is located in the northwestern part of the village Ketchenery . The catchment area is small and is 99 km² [1] .
The amount of precipitation falling in the Amta-Burgusta river basin is small and decreases in the direction from west to east. The upper reaches of the river according to the Köppen climate classification are located within the continental climate zone with hot summers and moderately cold winters (Dfa index). As in other rivers of the drainless region of the Western Caspian basin, due to the significant evaporation in the spring-summer period, the role of rainwater feeding is small [1] . The river is powered mainly by spring [3] . During the period of snowmelt flooding is possible [4] .
