Biography
Neil Gogolinsky was born in 1844 in the town of Toropets (now the Tver Region ). Even at a young age showed great ability to draw. In 1870, Gogolinsky graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. Even during his studies, he painted rural landscapes, which in 1868 - 1869 were awarded several silver medals of the second and first merits [2] .
After graduating from the Academy, Gogolinsky taught light patterns at the drawing school of the Society for the Encouragement of Artists . He actively participated in the work of the Society of Russian Watercolourists , his works were repeatedly exhibited at exhibitions held by this society. In 1872, Gogolinsky was awarded the title of class artist of the 2nd degree [2] .
The main theme of the work is Russian nature. Among the most famous paintings written by Gogolinsky are “Country View”, “Outskirts”, “Forest Wilderness”, “Opushka”, “Birch Grove”, “Rural Landscape”, “View in Flenov”. Gogolinsky painted many of his works in the estate of Talashkino in the Smolensk province [2] .
He died on July 2, 1895, was buried in the village of Bobyri, Smolensk region, Smolensk region [2] .
