Nasr in the European Formula BMW in 2009

Nasr began his career at the age of 7 with karting. Between 2000 and 2007, he many times became a champion in karting tournaments, including in the Brazilian Regional Championship [3] [4] .

BMW Formula

In 2008, Nasr began to perform in open-wheel racing. He made his debut in the American Formula BMW at the stage in Interlagos, the last stage of the season, and in the second race he managed to climb the podium - finished third, behind Alexander Rossi and Daniel Hunkadella [3] [5] .

In 2009, Felipe spent the full in the European Formula-BMW as part of the EuroInternational team. He climbed the podium in 14 of 16 races, earning 392 points in total, 104 ahead of his teammate and closest pursuer Daniel Hunkadele, and became the champion of the series [6] . Also, the Brazilian this season spent three races in the Pacific Formula BMW [3] .

Formula 3

In 2010, Nasr made his British Formula 3 debut as part of the Räikkönen Robertson Racing team, along with Carlos Huertas and Daisuke Nakajima. [7] For 29 races held, he was once able to climb to first place (on the Rockingham track), scored 136 points in total and took fifth place in the individual competition. In the same year, Felipe competed in the Macao Grand Prix race, where he took 11th place [3] .

In 2011, Nasr continued to participate in the British F-3, but already in the Carlin Motorsport team. For 30 races, the Brazilian pilot climbed the podium 17 times, seven of them in first place, earned 318 points (123 outstripping his team mate Kevin Magnussen ) and became the champion of the series. This year, Felipe again participated in the Macao Grand Prix race, where he became the second, and in 2012 the fifth. Also in 2012, Felipe took part in the Daytona 24-hour race, in which his crew took third place [8] , and two Formula 3 Euroseries races [3] .

GP2

In 2012, Felipe, sponsored by Banco do Brasil and the EBX Group , signed a contract with the DAMS team for performances in the GP2 series [9] . Once taking second place in the race (on the Spa Francorchamps track) and finishing three more times third, the Brazilian scored 95 points and took tenth place in the individual competition. His results and the championship title of his teammate - David Valsekki - allowed DAMS to win the team event [3] [10] .

Nasr in Formula 1 in 2015

In the 2013 season, Nasr joined the Carlin team, where Jolyon Palmer became his teammate. Already with six podiums, Felipe scored 154 points and was fourth in the season, ahead of Palmer by three positions [11] . In 2014, having improved his results to ten podiums, four victories and 224 points, the Brazilian pilot became the bronze medalist of the series. His replaced teammate - Julian Leal - became the tenth [12] , but in 2013 and 2014 , “Carlin” became the second in the team event [3] .

Formula 1

In February 2014, Felipe Nasr was confirmed as a test pilot in the Williams Formula 1 team [13] . He first got behind the wheel of a race car during the 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix , where he replaced Valtteri Bottas [14] .

In November 2014, it was announced that Nasr will become the main pilot of the Sauber in the season 2015 [15] . In his very first race - at Albert Park in Australia - Felipe took fifth place and earned ten points [16] . During the season, the Brazilian finished five more times in the points zone, scored 27 points in total and became 13th in the individual competition [3] .

In the 2016 season, Nasr continued to play for Sauber. The team’s results fell sharply: for a long time, the pilots did not score points, and in the Monaco Grand Prix , Nasra collided with his team mate Marcus Ericsson . However, in the rain Grand Prix of Brazil, Felipe took ninth place. The scored two points allowed Sauber to get ahead of Manor in the Cup of Designers in the fight for the penultimate tenth place. Nasr took 17th place in the individual competition [3] .
