Content

Description

Cactus is yellow-green. As a rule, clearly defined ribs and furrows are absent. Bundles of hair are usually distributed unevenly. The flowers are usually whitish yellowish white. The thorns are rarely raised, but wide and flat.

Distribution

The natural habitat is the slopes and riverbeds, in the shade of various shrubs and other plants. It is considered vulnerable due to its very small range, small numbers of individuals, less than 3000 plants, and illegal collection. It is harvested illegally, like an entheogen , confused with another Lofofor Williams cactus containing mescaline . Used as a decorative plant.

Chemical Properties

Unlike the related cactus Lofofor Williams , Lofofora diffuse does not contain mescaline , but contains the alkaline Pellotine .
