Creation History

The idea to record this album was born during a ZAZ tour at a meeting with the music director of the singer and record company. According to Isabelle Jeffroy, she, both in France and abroad, was often asked to release an album of old French songs.

When I gave my first concerts in Russia, people asked me to sing “Champs Elysees”. I thought it was kind of crazy, they, on the other side of the world, know this song.
Original text (Fr.)
Quand j'ai fait mes premiers concerts en Russie, les gens me demandaient de chanter " Champs Elysées ". Je trouvais ça fou qu'à l'autre bout du monde ils connaissent cette chanson.

Mostly it was about the songs of Edith Piaf . However, the singer decided to select songs by various artists about Paris (“Every time I leave for Paris, I’ll carry out Paris, Paris, Paris! We started the ZAZ project here, so this is also a way to say thanks”). She contacted the famous producer Quincy Jones (on his account, for example, work on the album Michael Jackson Thriller , the first album in the world by the number of sales [1] [2] ). The choice of producer according to the singer was intuitive, and with him ZAZ “quickly, simply and easily” recorded the album. The choice of songs was uncomplicated, although according to Isabelle Jeffroy, there are many songs about Paris, but she selected those that she was told about Paris more than others. [3] . Along with cover versions of famous songs, the album includes two previously unreleased songs by ZAZ.

Quincy Jones took part in the recording of the album, he edited the songs Champs Elysées , I Love Paris - J'aime Paris and J'aime Paris Au Mois De Mai ; Duet songs were performed by the young singer Nikki Yanofsky , jazz manush artist Tom Dutron and French chanson master Charles Aznavour . Also known jazz bassist John Clayton participated in the recording. The singer was accompanied by a big band in the recording - according to her, she had long wanted to record with a large jazz orchestra. [four]

The album was released on CD ; In addition, a collection CD has been released, supplemented by a DVD video.

All the profits from the album's related products (posters, t-shirts, bags), according to the singer, will be directed to the charity Mouvement Colibris . [3]
