After the annexation of Korea, the imperial house moved to Japan. The title "emperor" of the Korean imperial family was lost under Emperor Songjun during the Japanese occupation in the middle of the 20th century [1] .

Heir to the throne Lee Eun married the Japanese princess Masako Nasimoto. They had two sons: Li Chin and Li Gu . His older brother, Yaya, had 12 sons and 9 daughters from different wives and concubines.

Among the members of the imperial family in recent history, contradictions about the figure of the head of the house remain. After the death of July 16, 2005, Prince Li Gu, his adopted son, Li Won, was declared heir. However, the daughter of Prince Lee Kang , the granddaughter of Emperor Kojon Lee Havon challenged the nephew's claim to the throne and was crowned with the title Empress of Korea on September 29, 2006. Her step was not supported by members of the royal family of Lee [2] .
