The Museum of Ancient Belorussian Culture is one of the most famous museums in Minsk . It was founded in 1977 as a center for the study and promotion of the Belarusian artistic heritage. The opening of the museum, dedicated to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, took place in May 1979.
The museum’s collection was based on unique exhibits collected over the years by employees of the Institute of Art History, Ethnography and Folklore. K. Krapiva (IMEF) during art history and ethnographic expeditions throughout Belarus. The main goal of the museum is to form an experimental base for the further development of various branches of historical science - the history of art, crafts, ethnography, aesthetics.
