The list of lost MI- 8s of all modifications (including MI-9, -14 , -17, -18 , -19, -171 and -172) was compiled from open sources and takes into account only aircraft accidents or the impact of external forces that led to the loss helicopter or its write-off due to damage received.

  n.d.12 / n.The Angolan Air Force helicopter, piloted by the Cuban crew, paired up with the slave, provided direct support to the Angolan troops, working on the enemy NURS, from a height of 400 m. fire. Within 5 minutes, the crew selected a place for an emergency landing, during which time the fire spread through the helicopter and damaged the controls. The car lost control and fell to the ground. 2 crew members and 10 soldiers of the Angolan army were killed [1] .

  Khabarovsk Territory , near Komsomolsk-on-Amur0 / n.d.During the evacuation of firefighters who extinguished a forest fire, the helicopter fell into a zone of high temperatures, as a result of which the engines thrust fell. The car made a rough landing and with the further spread of the fire was destroyed by fire. The crew and paratroopers-firefighters were taken out to the scene by helicopter [2] .

  Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug , Beloyarsky district , near Vanzevat0/8During the flight, the main gearbox was destroyed due to the imperfect design of the oil filter (the valve spontaneously closed and the oil supply to the gearbox stopped) and the engines were switched off. A machine with high vertical speed collided with the surface of a frozen marsh and collapsed. Mechanic and three passengers were seriously injured [3] .
