Sparkle is an American music film starring Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston . A remake of the 1976 film of the same name , in which Irene Cara and Mary Alice performed similar roles. The film was produced by Stage 6 Films , co-produced by Sony and Columbia , and TriStar was the distributor of the film. The film is based on songs from the original tape written by musician Curtis Mayfield [5] and new compositions created by R&B artist R. Kelly specifically for the film [6] . Prototypes of the main characters served as members of the group The Supremes .

The film was the first acting work for singer Jordin Sparks and the last for Whitney Houston . She passed away three months after the shooting, and the film is dedicated to her memory [7] .
Content
Story
The action takes place in Detroit ( Michigan ) in the 1960s, when three sisters organized a girl group and soon became Motown stars. But fame has another side - a friendly family is gradually starting to fall apart [8] .
