History

In 1875, the tsarist government allocated 35 thousand rubles from the budget for the construction of the church on the forecourt.

The temple was erected by the architect N.V. Trusov . The type of temple is the “ octagon on the four ”. A brick structure with an area of 2800 square meters was crowned with an octagonal drum with a dome. A two-tier bell tower was attached to the temple.

Under this project, with some modifications, were also built:

  • Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Grajewo ,
  • Church of St. George the Victorious in Mlawa ,
  • Church of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevskogo,
  • Churches in Hranice and Slupce .

On September 8, 1877, the temple was consecrated.

On August 23, 1879, the temple was visited by Emperor Alexander II , who was on his way to meet with German Emperor Wilhelm .

In the 20s of the XX century , the church was demolished during the re-establishment process.

Part of the building material obtained during the demolition of the church was used in the construction of the house on the street Juliusz Slowacki 7.

To date, only the priest’s house has been preserved, in which there is a small church, attributed to the Torun temple. Divine services are held several times a year.
